New President Selected

President Eva Flying
After a year-long search, Chief Dull Knife College is excited to announce Eva M. Flying as its new college President. She will be the 6th sitting President, and the first woman to occupy this role. She is deeply rooted in the Northern Cheyenne community and is a champion of enhancing lives through health and education.“The selection process was not easy, we had some great candidates apply and interview for the position. The board wanted someone who was capable of keeping all stakeholders involved and informed of college happenings. We felt that Eva’s connections with the surrounding communities and roots to our homeland made our decision a little easier to choose her as our college President. We know that Eva has some big shoes to fill, and I know she knows that as well. From Dr. Woodenlegs, to Dr. Spang and Dr. Littlebear, we have every confidence that she can continue the work that these leaders have done, and she will further improve our college in years to come”, said Sidney Fox, CDKC Board Vice Chair.

Flying began her postsecondary education in Wyoming at Sheridan College where she received her Associates of Arts in General Studies. From there she continued on to Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado where she obtained her Bachelors of Arts in Exercise Science. In 1999 she returned to Montana and completed her Masters of Science in Sports Administration at Montana State University-Billings. One of her special achievements was completing her graduate internship at the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill. Flying is presently working on her Doctorate of Education in Community Colleges, with an emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion from California State University, Stanislaus. Flying has spent a considerable amount of her professional career establishing and managing health and wellness programs at higher education institutions. She appreciates the importance of the TCU movement and has been personally involved. “We look forward to working with Eva on a lot of projects, like strengthening our language and cultural history preservation. We want to aid Eva in creating stronger communication between departments and the board. We also want to support her in her efforts in improving the infrastructure of the college, and making our campus more community friendly and accessible to all interested in learning more about our cultural ways. Being our first woman College President, she is already creating a path for our young Cheyenne women to pursue their dreams, and her presence in the college in this leadership role is creating new pathways for all Cheyenne people to believe in the mission that Chief Dull Knife College instills”, stated CDKC Board Vice Chair, Sidney Fox.
